Acoustic Enclosures

Wakefield Acoustics is a UK-based acoustic enclosure manufacturer with extensive experience in designing, manufacturing and installing soundproof acoustic enclosures and industrial noise control solutions.

Noise Enclosures

From standard proprietary models through to custom-designed full turn-key solutions, we work closely with OEMs, end users, contractors and consultants to address complex noise problems across a wide range of industries, applications and noise sources.

Our experience ranges from close-fitting enclosures for fans, condensing units and pumps to large CHP and gas and diesel generator acoustic enclosures.

Compressor Acoustic Enclosures

Our acoustic enclosures are ideal solutions for reducing noise from industrial air compressors, and are often used alongside other products like Acoustic Louvres and Rectangular Attenuators for ventilation. Compressor acoustic enclosures can be manufactured in a range of sizes, thicknesses and bespoke specifications.

Generator Acoustic Enclosures

Using a soundproof generator enclosure is the best way to address the challenges presented by noisy gas and diesel generators.  Our experienced engineers can provide generator acoustic enclosure design for projects of all sizes across a range of industries and sectors.

Acoustic Enclosure Design

As acoustic enclosure design experts, each soundproof acoustic enclosure is cost-effectively designed to meet the most demanding of customer noise specifications often associated with complex application, access and/or environmental challenges.

Sound Enclosure Panels

All of our acoustic enclosures are built using tested sound enclosure panels which provide effective noise insulation.

Depending on noise specification, customer application, access and structural requirements we offer several types of enclosures from site-installed modular constructions, fully framed fabrications and one-piece drop-over units.

Our Acoustic Enclosures

Our enclosures are available with panel thicknesses of 50mm, 75mm and 100mm as standard, though thicker panels can be designed for specific applications where a higher level of noise reduction, or increased absorption is a necessity.

Acoustic enclosures can be manufactured from a variety of materials including pre-galvanised sheet steel, precoated/coloured steel, stainless steel or aluminium. The outer panel casing is formed from a folded steel tray, which fully encapsulates a layer of absorptive acoustic media (mineral wool) and sound-deadening layers.

The acoustic media is faced with a glass fibre scrim as standard and protected by a perforated steel sheet.

Acoustic insulation materials are odourless, rot-proof, non-hygroscopic, do not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

Industrial Acoustic Enclosures

Our range of acoustic enclosures is designed and manufactured to meet both noise reduction specifications and client-specific access and maintenance requirements. In order to create a full enclosure, acoustic panels are mounted into a support system designed specifically to suit access or maintenance requirements.

Small close-fitting enclosures would be normally be formed using a bolted panel-to-panel construction. Large acoustic canopies and screens would comprise of a skeleton frame fabricated from steel hollow sections or beams, with panels retained by bolted cleat plates or a series of folded C-channels and H-sections depending on future access requirements.

In addition, acoustic enclosures can be pre-fitted with lighting, small power and lighting, fire and gas detection and suppression systems, and air conditioning systems to suit a variety of industry specifications.

Engineering excellence in designing, manufacturing and installing industrial, commercial and environmental noise control products and systems.

What are acoustic enclosures?

Acoustic enclosures are very effective at reducing noise pollution from loud environments such as noisy machinery, plant facilities, industrial rooms, warehouse spaces and much more. Acoustic enclosures are designed to be soundproof chambers to keep noise in or out of environments. They can also be used to soundproof entire buildings, creating an optimised working environment and minimise disruption during working operations.

What enclosures reduce noise?

Acoustic enclosures reduce noise in loud work environments such as industrial plants, warehouses and any sector with loud machinery. Acoustic enclosures can be tailored made to fit your requirements, they can be small and portable or large to cover large areas of a building.

Do acoustic panels block inside noise?

Acoustic panels absorb sound waves which reduces noise especially in an open space. Acoustic panels do not block noise entirely but they are still effective in absorbing and reducing noise.

Do acoustic panels affect Wi-Fi?

Acoustic panels do no not stop Wi-Fi signals as they are not designed to block Wi-Fi signals. However, we recommend making sure acoustic panels are not installed between directly between the router and device as they can interfere with the Wi-Fi signals but not block them.

Do acoustic panels work in office?

Acoustic panels are effective in offices and can help improve the acoustics and noise control in the workplace. By absorbing soundwaves acoustic panels create a more productive work environment with no disruption from loud noises.

How is acoustics used in work buildings?

Acoustics in work environments are designed to reduce outside noise and isolate noise between rooms, open spaces and large industrial environments. By absorbing soundwaves acoustics help reduce noise to a comfortable level for improved efficiency and productivity among employees.

What materials are in an acoustic enclosure?

Acoustic enclosures are usually made out of robust materials which are perfect for soundproofing. These materials are timber, loaded vinyl, sheet metal, thick glass and plasterboard.

What are the benefits of acoustic enclosures?

There are many benefits acoustic enclosures provide to businesses. Acoustic enclosures are very effective at reducing loud noise in the work environment by absorbing soundwaves in large and small rooms, open spaces, large areas with machinery and much more. Increase productivity , communication, noise pollution and health and safety by installing acoustic enclosures.

How do acoustic enclosures work?

Acoustic enclosures work through a combination of sound absorption and sound blocking. The inner surfaces of acoustic enclosures typically feature sound-absorbing materials that reduce noise and general sound reflections inside the enclosure. The outer walls of acoustic enclosures use dense, heavy materials that block sound transmission.

What level of noise reduction can I expect?

Most acoustic enclosures provide noise reduction of 15-30 decibels (dB), though this varies based on the enclosure design and materials used, . A 10 dB reduction represents roughly a 50% reduction in noise, while 20 dB reduction represents about a 75% reduction in perceived noise.

Do acoustic enclosures affect equipment performance?

Acoustic enclosures do not negatively impact equipment performance. Ventilation systems are added to acoustic enclosures to maintain proper airflow for cooling and combustion air requirements,
